EEA Officers Attend NEOEA Summer Leadership Conference

EEA officers proudly represented Elyria educators at the 2025 NEOEA Summer Leadership Conference (SLC) held July 16–17 at Corporate College East in Warrensville Heights.

This annual event, hosted by the North Eastern Ohio Education Association (NEOEA), is a cornerstone leadership development opportunity for education professionals across the region. The 2025 conference featured over 30 sessions focused on leadership, advocacy, legal updates, bargaining strategies, technology compliance, and more. Attendees also had the privilege of hearing keynote speaker Daneé Pinckney, Ohio’s 2025 Teacher of the Year, who inspired educators with her message of passion, equity, and engagement.

Participants could choose from sessions such as:

  • Leadership Practices Inventory

  • Member Advocacy and the Grievance Process

  • Legal Implications of AI in Education

  • Health Insurance Bargaining Strategies

  • Building Power through Local Elections

  • And many more focused on practical tools and emerging issues in education.

These professional development events are not just informative—they are impactful. Members can earn contact hours toward their Individual Professional Development Plan (IPDP) or even graduate credit (via Ashland College, for an additional fee), making participation a valuable investment in your career.

We encourage all EEA members to attend NEOEA, OEA, and NEA training events throughout the year. These programs help strengthen your skills as a professional, empower you as an advocate, and build solidarity across our education community.

New Budget = New Opportunities

We’re also excited to share that the EEA’s proposed budget for the upcoming school year includes dedicated funding to support EEA members who wish to attend conferences like SLC. Whether you’re new to union work or a seasoned leader, we want to support your growth and learning.

And the Winner Is…

In a fun bonus, our very own Dan Falk won two tickets to an upcoming Cleveland Guardians game during the conference! All members who attend NEOEA events like this one are automatically entered into drawings for Guardians tickets—just another great reason to get involved.
