EEA Awarded OEA Local Assessment Tool Grant!

The Elyria Education Association (EEA) is excited to announce that we’ve been awarded an initial $2,500 Local Assessment Tool Grant from the Ohio Education Association (OEA)!

This important funding supports our work to better understand and meet the needs of our members, strengthen our union, and expand our collective power.

What Is the Local Assessment Tool Grant?

It is the first step in applying for the larger: Local Capacity Grant. The LCG is designed to help local unions like ours:

• Assess member needs
• Increase engagement
• Create a targeted action plan
• Grow union strength and sustainability

To qualify, we completed the OEA Local Assessment Tool, which evaluates local work across eight critical areas:

1. Advocacy
2. Contract Negotiations
3. Organizing & Strategic Planning
4. Community Partnerships
5. Communication
6. Political Action & Lobbying
7. Leadership Development
8. Governance & Finances

Why This Matters to You:

This grant directly supports our members by:

• Giving us tools to amplify your voice and connect more effectively.
• Helping us strategically tackle challenges in our schools and community.
• Enabling us to apply for up to $30,000 in additional funding to support high-impact initiatives.

This is just the beginning. The action plan we develop with this grant will be guided by your feedback, and we’ll keep you informed every step of the way.
